Rosamund Hodge - Cruel beauty review

This time I decided it was time for different kind of post. This post is a non-related beauty post but a book post! I love reeding books and because I was sick the other day I had some free time to read a book. I read Cruel beauty by Rosamund Hodge. This book genres are fantasy, romance and young adult so if you like any of these genres this book would probably be something for you!

This book is based on Beauty and the Beast but I think it is a very twisted version of it. It's about a girl called Nyx who has since her birth been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom the Prince of demon because her father made a bargain with him. Because of this bargain Nyx has since she was very small been trained by her aunt of how to please and seduce him and by her father how to kill him. Her mission is to kill this rule in the hope that the kingdom will return to normal. This kingdom doesn't have a real sky and the kingdoms popularity hope that by killing the Prince of Demon the sky will return. On her seventeenth birthday she is going to marry him and move into his castle but what she doesn't expect is that the Prince of Demon Ignifex is a charming extremly handsome demon in a human body who she starts to have feelings for...

I think this was a really good and different book from the rest and I mostly enjoyed reeding it. Sometimes I would had loved to walk into this book and slap Nyx's face but you should reed the book yourself to figure out why. I most say that the ending of this book really surprised me but I really liked it!
What makes this book special is because of the environment of this book! You don't know which time period this book takes place- It could be the past, present or future. I think it is a mixture of it all and that makes it all very exiting. The plot of the book is not like all the other books. I really felt like this was something new and I don't believe I had ever read anything like this before! The characters are really twisted and they really grows through the story. I really enjoyed Ignifex character because he was really funny but also very seductive on a good way! You should really just read it!

In the end it was a nice little book to read and on a scale from 1 to 5 I think I would give it a little 4. It was a good book and I really liked Ignifex but I don't know if I'm ever going to read it again.

So this is everything for this time!

Review: Maybelline one by one mascara

A couple of days ago I went to my local drug store with one mission: I was going to buy a new mascara. And lucky for me my local drug store was having a buy 2 pay for 1 offer on all Maybelline's mascaras. I'm a huge fan of Maybelline The Rocket mascara and that mascara are my ultimate drug store mascara ever! So this time I decided I would try something new and buy one of Maybelline's other mascaras (and of course The Rocket). After looking at their brushes for a long time I ended up buying One by One Volum' Express mascara and I most say I'm happy with the decision.

Maybelline One by One Volum' Express mascara
in glam black.
(The mascara contains 10,4 ml)

This is how the brush looks like. It's a very funny shape and the
first time I was applying it, it was very strange.
You need to apply this mascara a couple of times before you learn
which technique there is the best to use.

This mascara is really good!!!! It makes my lashes long and full of volume without making my lashes stick together and look like spider legs!

My eye without mascara. My eyeliner is from L'oreal Paris
Super Liner Carbon Gloss in Carbon Black

With one layer of mascara- I'm not wearing false eyelashes!

The result of the mascara is really nice and it looks good the entire day. I don't think it starts to crumble or ends under the eyes. You'll only need to apply this mascara once or two times to get the
right look! I'm very happy with this mascara!

One with and without mascara- Huge difference!

I would recommend this mascara to everyone. You should try it! I think maybelline makes the best drug store mascaras ever! They never disappoints one and always makes sure your lashes looks great!

Shiseido review!

First of all sorry I haven't posted anything in ages! I've been really busy with work and the last couple of days I've been sick. Don't worry I'm all right now! But I promise to be better and post more often!

But now lets get started! This post is about my "new" obsession with the Japanese brand Shiseido. Shiseido is a really old but famous brand from Japan with it origins from 1872 and it is the largest cosmetic company in Japan and the fourth largest in the world. Last Christmas I wished me a gift box from Shiseido but it was first this summer I started using it and I am now a fan! So I thought I would do a review of my favourite products from Shiseido (I don't own a lot and there is a lot of their products I haven't tried) with you guys! And I'm pretty sure a couple of their items will be ending on my Christmas list this year too! But lets get started!

So this is the four product I'm going to do a review on!

The first product I'm reviewing is the Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam  from their Benefiance series which is a facial cleanser that claims to remove impurities and excess the skins surface. It also claims to make the skin feel smooth and moist. So basically it's a face soup I use when I'm in the shower. The texture of it is very creamy and it smells really nice and a tiny bit of orange perhaps because in the texture there is small orange corns. In the start I thought my skin was a bit dry after use but after you have used it a lot of times the dryness disappears. I found it quit funny that my skin felt a bit dry after use because it's for normal to dry skin but perhaps it was just how my skin reacted to the soap the first couple of times. Over time it really did remove a lot of impurities and I could see a clear difference. My skin does not feel so oily any longer around my nose and after a bad skin period mainly because of my work it really helped to improve my skin a lot. This is most likely my favourite facial soap I've ever tried and I'm diffidently going to purchase this one again (and very soon 'cause it's almost empty :( ). It's super easy to use and I think it works good and the thing they are claiming are true.

So the next product I'm reviewing is the Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipstick in colour RD 514

This lipstick is my favourite dark red lipstick. It is very rich in colour and is long lasting. The first time I used this lipstick was for prom and even after I had been eaten and drinking my lips was still red! Not as dark red as in the begging but still red! I love red lipsticks and I think it's very hard to find a real red lipstick but this one is really good! It leaves your lips looking healthy and nice but I most say that you do get the lipstick feeling on your lips because your lips feels very dry. I would recommend to have a clear balm at your right hand to put on top. But in the end of the day it is really nice and long lasting!

Hello almost invisible upper lip!

So for years I've always been 100% sure that The Body Shop makes the best hand creams in the world but at the time I haven't tried Shiseidos little magical hand cream. It is the best hand cream ever!

Shiseido's Advanced Essential Energy hand cream is an every day hand cream and it leaves your hands super super soft. I would really recommend this product to people with super dry hands! My mother has some really dry hands but by one use of this hand cream she could feel a difference. You can easily  use this hand cream as well if you have normal skin. My hands a almost never dry but I really love using this if my hands needs a little extra treat. The texture of the hand cream is really thick and creamy but it quickly dries and immediately leaves your skin super soft! I know this sounds to good to be true but it is really amazing and if you get the chance to try just try it once and I bet you will love it!

So the last thing I'm going to do a review on is the Pureness oil control blotting paper

This thing contains super thin magic papers who leaves your nose matt and not shiny at all. It removes all the oil from your nose or forehead or wherever you use it and leaves your skin more presentable and good looking. My skin type is normal-combination skin and the worst place on my face is my nose because it sometimes gets oily. But by using these papers once in a while it leaves my nose oil free and good looking for weeks. My mom have tried a few of them and she really has problems with a shiny-oily looking nose and she really liked these papers as well. They are a nice little treat once in a while and almost everyone can use these. They are super easy to use and easy to have with you.

So this was my review and I hope you liked it!
Until next time, xx Maria

Paris haul

As most of you know I went to Paris this summer with Lucy and of course I ended up buying some things cause it was Paris, so I decided to do a little haul to show you what I bought.

The first place we went was Sephora and I did already know what was number 1 on my must-buy-in-Paris-list and that was the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. In Denmark we only have one Sephora shop and it is located in the capital Copenhagen and I don't live close to Copenhagen so I haven't gotten the change to purchased it before now! I have also search for it in Berlin as well but without any luck! So thank you Sephora, I'm now a very happy girl!

I did also buy Urban Decays All night makeup setting spray which basically is a spray that ensures your makeup to stay nice all day without your makeup starts melting, cracking or fading. This makeup setting spray promise to last up to 16 hours and is oil free, paraben free and contains temperature control technology. I think it is a very nice makeup setting spray and so far I have really enjoyed using it. It works!

I also bought a new mascara from Benefit called They're real! This is first time I have ever bought anything from Benefit but they have definitely not disappointed me! It is a good mascara and it does it job but the only thing you need to be careful about is that at least my lashes tends to clumps using it.

Next stop was Galeries Lafayette. I love buying things at Lafayette because you always gets lots of free samples! The first stop was Clinique.

I was running out of my favourite skin tonic and as you can see have I already been using it!

Next stop was Dior. For some time ago I was at my local drug store buying a lipstick and the expedient told me about a new lipliner pencil without colour because I'm not a big fan of coloured lipliners. She showed me a new lipliner pencil from Dior. The colour was universal and really nice so I ended up buying it in Paris together with my new favourite lipstick/balm.

Next up was Michael Kors. When I first visit the shop I fell in love with this little bag but I decided I would think about it before buying it because it was a bit pricey thinking about its size. After we went through every department I still couldn't stop thinking about the bag so I returned to the shop again. And guess what? I am now the very happy owner of my very first Michael Kors bag. I have been in love with his bags for such a long time so I am completely head over heels with this bag! Totally worth every penny I spent on it!

I don't know the model name but it is made from Saffiano leather

I did also buy a thing at my sworn enemy shop Printemps were I bought a new concealer. Normally I buy my concealer from Estee Lauder but I decided to try a new brand and I ended up buying my concealer from Nars.

Nars concealer in the colour Light 1, Chantilly
It was the lightest colour and it suits my skin really nice.
I normally use the ivory colour or a the fairest colour you can get a concealer in.

Disney Haul

When we visited Disneyland Paris I bought a lot of things. I don't think it is expansive at all in Disneyland. They had the prettiest things and I could probably have bought it all! My favourite shop was a small shop in the castle where they only sold Christmas things. I would highly recommend going to that store!

I ended up buying 3 balls and they were only 13 euro per ball. I can't wait till Christmas now!

I have a tradition that every time I visit a new country I will buy
a keyring so here is my new keyring.

This is the only glass I'm drinking off now.

I needed a pen so hey why not buy one from Disney?

We were in need of a card game and this was soooo cute!
This is definitely my new travelling card game!

This was everything from my Paris haul! I hope you enjoyed it!

Paris part 3

After our trip to Disneyland Paris we decided to sleep in our 5th day in Paris because we were so tired! When we finally woke up is was already noon and we decided to grab some lunch. We ended at Starbucks. Afterwards we decided to do some shopping and went to Printemps one of the grand magasins.

Printemps is a lot like Galeries Lafayette. All the shops is high-end brands but the shop is really pretty.

If you only have time to visit one of the shops I highly recommend Galeries Lafayette because the staff in Printemps was not friendly at all! I was really pissed when we decided to leave and I don't think I'll ever return to Printemps! I think the staff from Galeries Lafayette was so much more friendly and helpful and the shop is also more beautifully so visit Lafayette instead!

We also went to one of my favourite drug store brands shop Bourjois and it was super cute!

The shop was located in a small shopping mall with its own park! It was a visit worth it and in the mall there was also a Zara and a Sephora!
Because of the warm weather that day we ended our shopping trip early with a bag of macaroons and then we went back to relax! It was around 40 degrees that day and we were melting up!
Our macaroons this time was from a famous brand called Ladurée and their stand and shop at Printemps was really cute!

Strawberry Candy Incroyable
Raspberry
Rose Petal
I think the last one in pink with dark cream was a summer flavour
with different summer berries.
I like the macaroons from Pierre Hermes much more then these and would recommend his macaroons instead! Lucy and I was not a fan!

In the evening we decided to go to Moulin Rouge to find a place to eat dinner and we ended up at Buffalo Grill 3 Place Blanche, 75009 Paris. It was a really good place to eat and it wasn't expensive at all! We ended up ordering a starter and a main curse!

Free bread basket

Our starter

Lucy's dish (She was a fan and normally she only eats chicken!)

I ended up with a really good steak!

Sweet sweet Lucy

We ended up paying 20 Euro each for all of our food and drinks which was a really good deal! I would diffidently recommend this place!

On the other side is Moulin Rouge located

Back at our hotel room showed Lucy me an anime show called Kamigami no Asobi. It was one of my first anime shows but it was really good and I think you should try watching it! But be careful because you are going to be addicted once you start watching anime shows!

On our second last day in Paris the weather was extremely warm again so we ended up visiting a few store more and then returned to our hotel room earlier then usually. On our way back we visited a grocery and s small cupcake shop called Chloe's where we brought some cupcakes. We were going to have a feast at our room with sandwiches, soda, nuts, chocolate and cupcakes while we were watching anime.

Look how cute the bag was!

They were so cute!

We decided that this day was going to be Asiatic inspired and we ended up eating at a Chinese restaurant close to our hotel. It was a really interesting restaurant and I don't know if I liked the place or didn't. I have different feelings for the place but the Sushi was really good!

Weird starters to all the menus
(It is a soup and a salad)

Yummi sushi

Lucy's fried chicken

Weird meat sticks.

When we returned to our hotel we watch anime for the rest of our evening and we started to watch a new anime show called Brothers conflict

On our 6th and final whole day it was finally time to climb the Eiffel tower. First we made a stop by our favourite bakery/diner Brioche Doree and got our usual breakfast.

Chocolate du pain, croissant and Mango smoothie

And then our long walking trip to Le Eiffel tower. The distance from our hotel to the Eiffel tower was 6,5 km and we were dying because it was super super warm again! On our way we made a few stops at Champs Elysees and then we were ready. The Eiffel tower is located in a beautiful park were it is quiet with a calm atmosphere. There were a lot of people around the Eiffel tower but the line to one of the towers entrance wasn't to bad. After 15-20 minutes we could buy our ticket and enter. Lucy and I started counting the stairs but after the 100 we found out they wrote the stairs number on every 10th stair. In the end we climbed 700 stairs up and 700 down. I was determined to climb all the stairs then to take the elevator! It was hard and warm but it was worth it!

After our sweaty trip to the Eiffel tower we returned to our hotel with a quick stop at a grocery to buy some food. We didn't do a lot of things on the last day because we needed to pack all of our things. But before we could pack a lot of things happened and I can tell you all one thing! They are very good in Paris to keep their bank machines out of order! After we finally managed to find a machine who worked, got paid the city taxes and for the taxi, we started to packed and in the end we ate and watched some more anime and played some voltage games (my favourite iPhone/iPads games). A good advise! Make sure to have enough of Euros with you!
Around 1 am we went to sleep but it was really late and 3 hours after we went to bed we were going to get ready to leave to the airport. If you are going to Paris i highly recommend to fly back around 11 am because if you need public transport the first buses or trains runs after 7 am. We rented a private taxi driver through our hotel and it was expensive!
Around 5:15 our driver picked us up and then we went to the airport! The airport is huge so it was nice with a person who could drive us to the right terminal. After checking in I found a few present to my family and we ate some breakfast. The breakfast in the airport is not too expensive but you should expect to pay about 1 Euro more for it.

When we finally returned to Hamburg Lucy's father was waiting and we got into their car. Lucy and I was so tired so we fell asleep quickly.
And this is how our Paris trip ended! It was so strange the next couple of days not hanging out with Lucy but it was one the best trips ever! Lucy and I had so much fun together so now we are travelling buddies and we are currently planning our next summer trip together and it is going to be HUGE!

xx Maria

Paris haul will be up soon!
